P&E joins Foremast consortium (year 1) - zeroEMission, Automated, Small, and flexible vessel (SFAZ) protoTypes
Power & Energy Lowlands is developing an innovative system that combines zero-emission power supplies, including batteries and hydrogen fuel cells, designed for marine applications with electric vessels. The flexible system uses modular swap boxes that can be added or removed depending on the specific application requirements. This system will be demonstrated (covering innovative fuel cells for SFAZ, energy management, battery swap box design, and floating station refueling).
Funded by the Horizon Europe programme, the 3-year long FOREMAST project will address the urgent need for sustainable transport solutions in urban and coastal areas, with the aim to create a paradigm shift towards cleaner and more efficient logistics. The Small, Flexible Automated, Zero-emission (SFAZ) vessel, to be developed within the project, will allow the sustainable transport of goods along inland waterways, reducing road congestion, lowering emissions and improving overall accessibility.
